I have enjoyed previous books by Elizabeth Camden, but for some reason I
just could not get into this one. I felt that the book was more about
the mystery of the disappearance of the Culpeper and everything else was
just a smaller plot in the story. There were also a lot of storylines
in the book and it seemed like there was too much going on and it took
away from the romance between Luke and Anna. This also made the love
story seem forced to me. It just didn't work as a reader and it wasn't
very believable. I also didn't care for Luke. He had really bad anger
problems. In the end of the book Anna tests him and he supposedly
redeemed himself, but I didn't buy that as a reader. I didn't care for
the character. There were times when Anna got on my nerves as well. With
that said, the storyline was interesting and I was interested in
finding out what happened to the Culpeper. I think I cared more about
that than I did about Anna and Luke ending up together. I think this is
one of those books where you will either like it or find it boring.
I received this book for free from Bethany House Publishers for my honest review.
